WHERE DO I START?
Here at Fat Panda our ultimate goal is to help people make the transition from cigarettes to e-cigarettes, we understand it can be overwhelming when trying to choose a device for the first time which is why we made this handy guide to help you on your journey to Kick-It!
To get started it helps to know the terminology, and what actually makes up your vaping device.
First of all, every device will have a battery. Devices such as the EMOW (as well as most starter kits), the iStick 40W, or even the iStick 200W will come with internal batteries. This means the batteries are not removable, and will be charged through an input somewhere on the device itself, usually a micro USB although some starter kits use a special input.
Larger devices such as the Smok Alien or the Vaporesso Revenger will use external batteries, which are removable and require a separate charging station.
Secondly, every device will have a tank or atomizer. This is the glass piece that holds your e-liquid and also where the coil generally sits.
Coils are what actually turn your e-juice into vapor. It is basically cotton, wrapped in a metal wire. As you fire off your device, your coil will heat up, and the e-juice will begin to evaporate off the cotton.
Now that you understand the terminology, that leaves us with the question of …
Which Device Should I Choose?
Generally a first time vaper should take a look at choosing from one of our many starter kits. These devices are not too large, very easy to operate, and provide a small to moderate amount of vapor. Among these the Kangertech E-Smart, and Kangertech EVOD Kits tend to be the most popular due to the compact size, and the fact that the draw from these devices will be the most similar to smoking. Some people use a sub-ohm device, which means they can interchange tanks and batteries, where as with a starter kit or pen style device you generally can not.
So you have chosen your starting device, you have to now fill it with juice, we have over 150 flavors so most aspects of selecting juice is all personal preference, however the one question we get the most is…
What Nicotine Strength Should I Be At?
The answer to this question depends on how much you were smoking prior to transitioning to vaping. The table below should be able to help you choose a nic strength. Most of our juices will come in 0, 3, 6, 8, 12, 18, and 24mg of nicotine, however there are some exceptions so be sure to double check!
|Nic Strength||Cigarette Equivalent|
|3mg/0.3%||Up to 5 cigarettes a day|
|6mg/0.6%||Up to 10 cigarettes a day|
|12mg/1.2%||Up to 20 cigarettes a day|
|18mg/1.8%||Up to 30 cigarettes a day|
|24mg/2.4%||Up to 60 cigarettes a day|
What is the Deal With Changing Coils?
Like stated above, coils are what actually turn your e-juice into vapor. In order to do this the metal must heat up the cotton inside. Over time (roughly 5-10 days) your cotton will start to lose the ability to hold juice. When this happens you will notice the cotton (or even your liquid) darkening and a lack of flavor or even a burnt taste will be present when vaping. This means it is time to change your coil! Changing coils may seem difficult but it is actually very simple. Follow along with this video, or the steps listed below and you should have no problem!
